Over-the-Range Microwave, AMV1150VAB, Black (Kitchen) Our over-the-range GE microwave died only after about 1 1/2 years. I was so mad because it was one of the most difficult things I ever had to install (I am a pretty handy guy. Woodworking and carpentry are my hobbies - I am a computer geek by day. I've built my own kitchen cabinets, bunk beds for my kids, wardrobe for my daughter, did my own kitchen remodel, built a deck, my kid's a playhouse, and many other things). For the last 2-3 years we used a cheap $50 counter-top microwave we purchased from a local store. Then that one died so we decided to get a new over-the-range one. We settled on this one and I am happy we did because it was easier to install then the GE, but if you do not have at least basic carpentry skills, do not attempt to start with installing one of these. I had to do quite a bit to prepare my wall to bare the weight of it. We really like the look of this microwave and it works just fine. It is a built loud when it runs and so is in the fan, but all of these... Read more

Over-the-Range Microwave, AMV1150VAB, Black (Kitchen) As soon as this microwave arrived I did not like it. The vent is designed to be hidden but instead it just looks poorly designed. In addition the auto buttons are very few. My old counter top microwave from 2002 has more auto buttons. This microwave would of actually been a downgrade for us. I was in PC Richards to buy a new dishwasher for the kitchen remodel and we saw a well designed microwave and bought that one. The vent is designed like an air conditioner and perfectly fits the front panel. The auto buttons are numerous and the display can be on continuously while cooking. The unit we finally went with was the Hotpoint RVM1535DMBB for $25.00 more. The only complaint that I have read is a loud fan.
I was somewhat apprehensive about shipping back such a large and heavy item. I went to Home Depot and told the employees there what I wanted to do. They sold me a gigantic roll of plastic shrink wrap (Saran Wrap). It took 2 people but we wrapped up the microwave like a gigantic... Read more
