We purchased this item from a local appliance store on Feb 19, 2010. The salesperson praised the Whirlpool line over Sharp or GE which they didn't sell. The Whirlpool line has Magic Chef on the low end, then next up is Whirpool and Amana with Maytag their top of the line. He didn't think it was worth the extra $100.00 to buy the Maytag for the little extra quality or features and neither did we. We were replacing our less than three year old Panasonic that had a spin dial and inverter that went out and the parts were as much as a new microwave.

The first one of these microwaves we brought home we got out of the box and the control panel was hanging loose on the front. The holes on the side of the unit looked like they should have screws to hold the control panel in and they were missing. We called the store and took it back for an exchange when we were in that town next. On 2/24/10 we brought the second Amana microwave home. They opened, inspected and tested it before... Read more
